a As you said before, Australia and NZ are very close !! At least people like Fraser Anning are getting the contempt they deserve! A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

Despite the distance, we're still cousins. There was a moving tribute to the power of love to overcome hate in today's paper. You may remember the October 27 terrorist attack on the Tree of Life synagog in Pittsburg that took the lives of 11worshipers. What is possibly less known is what happened afterward, when at an October 28 inter-faith memorial service, the director of the Pittsburg Islamic Center not only announced that the Muslim community would pay for all the funeral services of their slain Jewish bothers and sisters, but vowed that Muslims would stand guard at the local synagogs if necessary to ensure their freedom of worship, and would even accompany any who felt unsafe on their daily errands. They raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. Pittsburg is now awash in signs on lawns and buildings carrying messages of unity. I hope instead of people staying away from mosques in the aftermath of this cowardly terrorist attack as reportedly proposed by New Zealand police commissioner Mike Bush, the country's mosques can be filled with people of all faiths and walks of life to ensure Muslims' safety and freedom to worship in peace. I can't post a link, but you can try Washington Post Molly Pascal for the full Pittsburg story.

I believe that it is just pure hate and a sense of entitlement that is the pathway to this type of violence. We all stand wit NZ against this senseless act.
