Read between the lines

“What are you most thankful for?” she asked.
reply came easily. “Being too blessed to have any hope of answering that question.”

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

There are so many things that I am grateful for. Today, I was reminded yet again how grateful I am for so many wonderful story tellers and the books they write that are so widely available.

Im a nonfiction reader more than anything else and can easily go through several books per week. That there are learning and educational books as well as oodles of in between informational and entertaining options is just so mind boggling. Millions of choices exist, good and bad, well written and poorly hacked together. That libraries give us access at little to no cost to try books out before we decide to buy or just have access to far more options and types of books than we would ever want or need to read is miraculous to me, when only a hundred years ago most people didn't have access to even one let alone own one.

Bookstore or online, e-books or paper in hand, well known favorites or independent new comers, the options and access we have right now is such a happy privilege and one of my favorite pleasures and for that I am thankful.

I've fallen away from reading but with retirement on the way I can see a good crime mystery in my future.

I tried to read between the lines but all I saw was a sea of blue.
But I kept staring and staring because you'd asked me too and you's on my special list so I figures you was asking for a reason.
Eventually.... after staring at it long enough I saw some black dots but they didn't quite make any kinda sense.
So I stared some more. And then some more.
But they never quite swam into focus. But I think maybe that's because I busted my new glasses and am wearing an older pair that aint quite right no more.

Now I has a headache.

I wish people would just say shit like "John get new fucking glasses" instead of doing this cryptic, join the dots, shit. Even though I'm probably more perceptive and better at joining dots than just about anyone else. Clarity is a good thing.... My optometrist has great tits.

Oooooooooooo retirement contemplation. Now THAT is something to be grateful for!

Reading goes in cycles for me too. There are only so many hours in the day and if there's a lot to do, lol sitting and reading isnt always the best use of time, but I get in moods where I read non stop book after book after book. It is definitely my chosen escape far more than tv or movies. Then again I talk all day and work at a computer all day so being online, chatting on the phone or over dinner or drinks with friends is more a chore when I just want to rest my voice for daily downtime anyway.

Huh, ya know, of the people who have mentioned them to me its a heavily male segment that can do book audio books when they drive. Maybe becasue they are more visually wired the audio input doesnt distract as much. I tune out the driving when my hearing engages so, yeah, I haven't done much of that. Then again it was book on tape stories not instructional and that may make a difference. I'll have to go see what the library has on offer to test it out.

Ok that was hysterical and not far off of how my vision was swimming yesterday. Huh, maybe I jinxed myself. Or I need new contacts lol

Or maybe were both just a 'little special'. I call it.....I get to lick the window first!

JOHN, connect the dots and get new glasses!

But keep the optomhertits. A great rack is a horrible thing to waste
