Poetry in motion Day 26

April is national poetry month and while I do follow along with my local library's daily selection, this year instead of writing my own poetry or sharing a classic of another, I am sharing songs, well lyrics of songs, that I consider pure poetry. Poetry in motion as it were.

If you've been swept away by a poem, whether or not put music and can help sweep us away, please join in and share your ocean of emotion/poetry in motion as well.

Special thanks drmgirl622, 4Faksake, jenny, mockyloks & tsarah, who have offered suggestions or shared their selections.....It is greatly appreciated!

Sometimes I make a move, sorry to leave my home, but hope I will find another of equal character.
At night I gaze at the starry mass with no idea to which one the earth attached.
May'be that cute little one over there or that one that sits alone in the inky black

We all have them don't we? Those poems as songs that roll over you like a tidal wave, making you close your eyes, open your ears, throw your head back and tune out the world as the tune itself drowns you in feeling!

They can be sweet or sad, moving or numbing, quiet and gently stirring, fierce, hell no, fuck yeah, or fucked up and loud.

This is another one of my absolute favorite songs (and band) because in my not very humble opinion, Patrick Monahan is one of the best songwriters of generation X.Or it could just be that sexy as fuck black Irish manslut thing he has going on.

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's a-time to change, hey, hey
Since the return of her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

But tell me
Did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way
To see the lights all faded?
And that Heaven is overrated?
Tell me
Did you fall from a shooting star
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself out there?

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey, yeah

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as
Plain ol' Jane, told a story about a man
Who was too afraid to fly so he never did land

But tell me
Did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way?
And tell me,
did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find?
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself out there?

Can you imagine no love? pride? deep-fried chicken>
Your best friend always sticking up for you
Even when I know you're wrong?
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance
Five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had,
and me?

But tell me
Did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way?
And tell me
Did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that Heaven is overrated?

And tell me
Did you fall from a shooting star
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself?

Na-na, na-na, na-na( X2)
And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day?
Na-na, na-na, na-na( X2)
And did you fall from a shooting star?
Fall from a shooting star?
Na-na, na-na, na-na (X2)

And are you lonely looking for yourself out there?

They are GREAT lyrics

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw

Last night I sat out on my patio just staring at the beautiful night sky. The crescent moon was like that of an emoji and then there was Venus

Venus
Shocking Blue

A goddess on a mountain top
Burning like a silver flame
A summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name.

She's got it,
Yeah baby,she's got it.
I'm your Venus,
I'm your fire at your desire.

Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad,
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no one else had.
She's got it,
Yeah baby,she's got it
I'm your Venus,
I'm your fire at your desire.

Train is definitely known for their tongue twisty charming lyrics. SO much fun ya have to grin just listening.

Ohhhhhhhhhh yes, You picked a killer good one, hon. I wasn't a huge Bryan fan until Everything I do came out in 91 and then this.....this one elevated him to a superstar in my mind. If there could be a romance 101 rock version of what a woman wants to hear, this is it! Body, passion, heart and soul all in one place.

You fell off a star? Why don't I know about this? You being made of stardust does not count.

Poor Lisa Marie. Shes had it rough. I still cant tell if shes a bit slow, spoiled into immaturity or just playing it really close but loose. I give her a lot of credit for mostly maintaining her privacy cept for taht late 880's early 90s period. I didnt know Elvis was part Navajo. You'd think that would help her find it not lose it.

Ol Priscilla was lovely but a bitter sharp momma. I cant fault her for being pissed at the insecure man whore she married but I see signs she made sure she ran a hot mouth to her daughter. She sure didnt hold back in her Elvis and Me biography. I havent read an autobiography since then.

Slow enough to absorb, yes, I agree french can be lovey on the ears and heart. Id not hunt any of it but if you do, I hope you find the song you were thinking of.
