The twilight zone..the series and my thoughts Yesterday syfy network ran its usual twilight zone 24 hr marathon...and i totally bought in. And omg is there like a bad episode of this show?..each episode is like a masterpiece...especially compared to m night shamalama ding dongs surprise movie endings... Yes we figured out that omg the religious commune occured in modern times..despite them looking like a cross between hippies and the amish. It doesn't take a blind woman stumbling through the forrest for the " medicine" to figure it out. So yeah i got to see william shatner and his gremlin on the plane wing...i got to see burgess Meredith as the whimpy husband that just wants to read alone... i got to see jack klugman looking for pip... Rod serling was alot like gene roddenberry of star trek fame..they say he not only wrote alot of the episodes..he rewrote them all so they fit his particular vision for the show. So as a fan compelled to ask what is your favorite episode? |

For me this is a tough one.. I've always enjoyed the one where the men's club braggard makes a bet to not speak for a year..then finds out the other guy can't pay/ went belly up...then we find the braggard had his vocal chords cut. Im also a fan of the episode " needful things".. An old peddler comes up to folks and sells them what they need..like scissors when the mobsters shoe laces get caught in a machine.. The peddler sells the bully some slippery shoes...cause that is what the peddler needs to get away from the gangster. I also think the billy mummy one is hellacool...and freaky for a twilight zone episode..changing a man that wanted to play music on his birthday into a real life jack in the box.

i love the one where the old woman hears something in the attic. She fights with the intruders in the little space ship and the camera pans around to read " US Air Force" on the side of the ship.

WALKING DISTANCE. Great script and dialogue. Great Bernard Herrmann score too. One of his best compositions. "Opening Narration Martin Sloan, age thirty-six. Occupation: vice-president, ad agency, in charge of media. This is not just a Sunday drive for Martin Sloan. He perhaps doesn't know it at the time - but it's an exodus. Somewhere up the road, he's looking for sanity. And somewhere up the road, he'll find something else." - Rod Serling Closing Narration: "Martin Sloan, age thirty-six, vice-president in charge of media. Successful in most things, but not in the one effort that all men try at some time in their lives - trying to go home again. And also like all men, perhaps there'll be an occasion - maybe a summer night sometime - when he'll look up from what he's doing and listen to the distant music of a calliope, and hear the voices and the laughter of the people and the places of his past. And perhaps across his mind, there'll flit a little errant wish, that a man might not have to become old, never outgrow the parks and the merry-go-rounds of his youth. And he'll smile then, too, because he'll know that it is just an errant wish, some wisp of memory, not too important really, some laughing ghosts that would cross a man's mind - that are a part of The Twilight Zone." - Rod Serling
