Why do certain stereotypes still exist..and are pushed

I was thinking of this topic while watching the live action version of aladdin last week.

I find it cool that jasmine not only wants control over who she marries/ loves ( found in the cartoon)...
But now desires to follow in her father's footsteps and become the sultan herself.( found in the live action movie).

I really am cool with female lead movies and movies about female empowerment.

But companies like disney keep the tired male stereotypes..

Aladdin is a poor beggar..who meets a wonderful girl in the market. He knows she is from the palace due to her attire and her bracelette.
Aladdin assumes this girl is the princesses assistant.

So he thinks he has a chance of actually dating her.

Until aladdin finds out the girl is the princess..

So yeahhhh stereotype much...a male's worth/ value is tied directly to his ability to make wealth.

Aladdin then goes into the monstrous cave and risks his life..

For what?..The lamp?...

Nope jafar promised him wealth so he could date the princess..
If he retrieved the lamp..

So he's not good enough unless he is rich.

Then when granted 3 wishes aladdin uses 1 to become a prince..?
To elevate himself up to jasmines status

Meanwhile flip the script..if jasmine found the lamp her wishes wouldn't have been used to impress prince aladdin..
She wanted freedom, she wanted to rule.

I mean this is 2019...more women then men are in college, have more advanced degrees..in some families women are the bread winner etc.

So if disney really is so concerned about equality/ feminism..
Then shouldn't aladdin be changed too.

Seeing men as nothing more than power or wealth is just sexist..
Especially towards men with neither..
There are alot of street rats out there with hearts of gold.
Too bad society just shrugs them off because they aren't a prince.

And women usually date men equal to their status or better.
If a woman has a master's degree chances are she is looking for a male with an advanced degree.
If she has wealth, she is looking for a man with wealth.

Like it said in the movie..jasmine has to marry a prince.

Until the very end when disney got super pc and said wow..now jasmine is the sultan and can make any law she wants..she can marry...some dude she dated twice?

It's just a tired male stereotype and disney needs to stop pushing it

Yes there are tons of megan markles..

Im really suprised one prince is allowed to marry a underwear model.
The next married a wanna be actress and game show hostess..
But i guess it's all good as long as they are pretty and will crank out pretty grandkids
