I know people love their animals but this is NOT normal or common!

A small dog on the end of the bed (outside the covers) would be acceptable...

Dogs love the company of there owners and often sleep in the same bed. The fact the dog is female, is that the insinuation, is that what is inappropriate?
Perhaps the real question should be: Will the dog be in bed, if you are joining him?

I am not fond of pets (4 legged) sleeping in my bed period. I know pet lovers will probably disagree, my opinion is not based on a sexual thing, it is just my opinion. The fact that the dog is male or female does not matter, it should be in it's crate or its bed

Yes, my question would be is the dog *in* the bed or sleeping on the bed. A lot of dog owners don't mind the dog sleeping on the bed. i've had dogs which did. They'd lay on top of the bed at my feet when i climbed into bed and would end up in their own bed in the morning. No big deal.

Just ask him. Then you'll know, instead of assuming.

There may or may not be anything nefarious about the man's propensity. I for one will say cats look good on a bed, dogs not.

I don't agree with dogs sleeping in owner's beds, but it's a really common practise...

Hi jenny
I live in my house with a cat, I'm happy and so is he.
When he wishes, he goes to bed with me, especially during the winter, he's not stupid!

My dog (yes female) sleeps with me every night. Ss a matter of fact she has to be either in contact with my body or lying in it in some way. Its a statement of loyalty and utter trust between the dog znd master. Nothing ti read into

In my experience, should your relationship with him go face-to-face, he will prefer the dog to you. The dog is more than a dog...it's his child! If he is single you definitely rank below the dog. I would consider this a red flag.
