Welcome to the AP (Authentic Polyamory) movement. We feel that much of the rest of the so-called poly community has gotten it wrong! Poly is about equitable, inclusive, and cooperative sexual loving. It is not about putting lovers on different rungs of a ladder of importance some being higher and others lower. It is not serial monogamy in poly clothing, i.e., going through lovers in succession using, abusing, and dumping people in turn. It is not about competing for highest position. It is not merely about friendship. It is about multiple conjugal relationships, i.e., sexual loving ones. Poly is also about ethics. No cheaters! Cheating in poly means violating agreements. It means being engaged with others without the knowledge and approval of existing partners. No one ever has to cheat. That's a copout. No one's wife or husband "misunderstands" them so much that it justifies cheating. Cheating is simply an inexcusable choice. On the other hand, AP has a more liberal than average attitude toward swinging. We view swinging as a separate lifestyle, i.e., swinging is not poly. Conversely, there are poly people who also swing and engage others in a variety of other lifestyles and lovestyles. Interested? Join the group and also the discussion. |
