Other than seeing Friends on IM, is there a way to see what friends are online?

Has anyone elese noticed this? - 9/22/2014

Many times ALT will show me in a completely different location than where I am. I am in Florida and ALT will sometimes list me in Oregon. Other people that I know are shown is in different locations,
